The Gita Project respects your privacy. This policy explains how the mobile app collects, uses, stores, and shares information.

The app can be used without signing in. Signing in is optional and exists only to save and sync your favourites and reading progress across devices.

If you choose to sign in, we may collect:

• Display name
• Profile image, if provided by your Google account
• Authentication provider information, such as Google Sign-In or email sign-in

If you do not sign in, this account information is not collected.

App activity and preferences

The app may store information about how you use its reading features, including:

• Favourites
• Reading progress
• Last viewed lesson or section
• App preferences, such as theme or onboarding state

When you are not signed in, this information is stored locally on your device. When you sign in, your local favourites and reading progress may be synced to your account so they can be used across devices.

Technical information

The app may receive limited technical information necessary to operate the service, such as network requests to load app content and maintain account sessions.

The app contains no ads and does not use an advertising ID.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide the app and its core reading experience
• Save favourites and reading progress
• Sync your data across devices when you choose to sign in
• Maintain your account session
• Improve reliability and app functionality
• Respond to support, privacy, or deletion requests

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-Party Services

The app uses third-party services to provide core functionality:

• Supabase — authentication, database storage, and syncing of user data
• Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with your Google account

These services may process information according to their own privacy policies.

Local Data

If you use the app without signing in, your favourites, reading progress, and preferences are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app may delete this local data.

If you later sign in, some local data may be uploaded to your account so it can sync across devices.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data.

We may share data only with service providers that help operate the app — such as authentication and database providers — or where required by law.

Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect user data. Information transmitted between the app and backend services is sent over secure network connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information responsibly.

Data Retention

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app data, or uninstall the app.

Account-related data is retained while your account remains active or as needed to provide the app’s features. You may request deletion of your account and associated data.

Children

The Gita Project is not directed to children. The current target audience for the app is adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above.
